Loveless Gelbvieh

Cattlemen, we would like to extend a big hello from all of us at Loveless Gelbvieh. We will start out by telling you a little about us.  Jeff’s roots go back five generations of farming and raising commercial cattle in Payson, Utah. Tamara spent most of her time helping her dad with his cattle and farm in Nine Mile Canyon.  Having the opportunity to raise our family in this kind of atmosphere has been great. Our children and grandchildren are actively involved with the cattle and horses (rodeo). Spending many hours working the yearly cycle of ranching, calving, getting the cows bred, irrigating ,going to the mountain, putting up hay, branding, fencing, bringing the cows home and so on until it all starts over again.

We got in the seed stock business in 1990 when we had the opportunity to buy Sullivan’s Gelbvieh purebred herd and have been artificially inseminating our cattle for twenty five years. We raise both purebred Gelbvieh and Balancer’s (Gelbvieh/Angus) Black and Red . Most of our bulls, heifers and feedlot calves are sold to repeat customers. We strive to raise cattle that are easy fleshing and structurally sound with the performance and eye appeal. Our cattle don’t get pampered, they have to pay their way and run like a commercial operation. Our females are easy fleshing, sound, and moderate powerhouses, that will produce quality females and superior bulls.

These cattle are the result of our attempt to identify and produce cattle that will work in any environment with minimal supplement and inputs.  Our cattle summer in Meadow, UT, starting at 5000’ going to 10,000’ this is rugged steep country. The cows have to work hard and travel long distances for water.

There are many things that I enjoy about the cattle business, but none better than the opportunity to meet and work with some of the greatest hard working people on the planet
